Goodbye, Microsoft. Hello, Apple!

I’ve always been a Microsoft girl. Always. Forever. It’s just what I grew up with. Don’t get me wrong… I was never against Apple… I was one of the first in line for the first generation iPod! But… computer wise… Microsoft all the way!

Goodbye Microsoft Hello Apple

I’m going to be honest here, I’m not the greatest with computers. I swear it’s all against me. All of the computers I have ever owned would crash and would always seemed to get viruses and pop-ups… I don’t even know what I’m doing wrong!! I used it for school!

It got so annoying, you know? Always kept getting viruses or whatever. Always getting broken for some reason. Always having to get a new computer every couple of years. What a waste!

and that ENTIRE time (9 Years!)… Mr. J only had one laptop. ONE MACBOOK TO RULE THEM ALL! ....hmm I want to watch Lord of the Rings now. Mind you… he never uses it to the extent that I do… but still! I’ve never seen him had to take it in to have it fixed, never had to have it replaced and he got that laptop second-hand!!!!!

I was so nervous about telling my Mr. J about CoffeeHeartMind… ugh! So nerve wrecking! I kept asking him what he thought about it… how he felt about it. But then he did something that told me…

He bought me a MacBook Air!

He explained how he wants me to have the best computer for my blogging.

Oh mai goodness! Can I melt even more?!  Like putty, I tell you! Like putty!

I can’t even really describe how I felt.

I just felt so happy! Sure – new toy is always nice… But it’s not the toy that made me happy. It’s the meaning behind it. I mean he believes in me and this blog enough that he bought me a MacBook. He bought me a reliable laptop to keep my dream afloat! <3

So you guys can imagine what I did that night, right? I played with my new MacBook!  Microsoft to Apple…. so different. *mind blown*

Mr. J helped me set it all up. Then I sat there trying to learn the world of Apple… Launchpad – Finder – Safari – Mail – Photos – Pages – Messages.

Oh my goodness, there’s so much to learn! So if I’m getting this right….

Launchpad is where all the apps are

Finder is like Microsoft’s “My Documents” and this is where you can find all of your folders.

Safari is internet, my friend! Had to figure out how to add all my bookmarks back here. What I love, too, is that I can make folders within my bookmarks!  Greatest. Thing. Ever. Makes finding a site so much easier! I’ve got a book folder “social media” and anything social media goes into that folder. I’ve got a “tools” folder… a folder for websites such as Canva and Analytics.

Mail. I love the Smart Mailbox!

Messages is wonderful! My own messaging app on my laptop!? Greatest thing ever! Especially since everyone else in my house has an Apple!

Photos. If the photos are in here and in the Pictures folder in the Finder… does that mean that it’s taken up twice the memory??

Pages is by far the most confusing so far! I’m sure it’ll get easier with time. But why isn’t everything just right there in front of you!!! *eye twitches*

Now that I’ve had this little shiny baby for a week now, I’m getting pretty used to the controls. Especially with all of the mousepad options… like dang! But I must admit, when I get impatient or when I just have to HAVE TO do something… I plug in my wireless mouse. Guilty!

That’s it! I have been converted!

I guess now the question is…. will I exchange my Samsung phone to an iPhone?!

omg… spotlight?! I missed it because I never knew about it!!! Now I’m just like… omg Spotlight this! Spotlight that! *mind blown

    Congrats on your new laptop!

One thing you missed which is the most powerful part of the mac in my opinion is Spotlight. Next too the clock is a search icon, click that, spotlight opens, there you can find anything. Can can even do math. Also if you become a super geek with your computer, and tend to do repetitive tasks, look into automator.

Photos: Yes, apple photos stores the actual photographs within the application, so if you have photos in the photos folder like jpgs, and you can see them in the photos app. they are duplicated.

    Good Day!
