So you have a blog and you want people to notice it. Maybe you already have an Instagram account for your blog but want to know how to make it better. Today I’m going to list 5 simple things that you can do today to improve your blog’s Instagram account!
Make It A Business Account
Whether your blog is a “personal” blog or it’s a “business” blog, make your Instagram account a business one. I mean… sure, it’s nice if your family and friends like your picture but I’m preeeeeetty sure you want your readers to know that it’s your blog’s. You want your readers to know that it’s not just any individual’s account – it’s your blog’s Instagram account.
If you want to treat your blog like a business… then treat Instagram like a business. What’s great about having a business account is that your audience can now contact you. Also, insights! With a business account, you have “insights” which is like Instagram’s version of Google Analytics. With insight:
- you can see
- how many impressions you’ve had
- how many individuals you’ve reach
- how many people have viewed your profile
- how many website clicks you’ve had through your profile
- once you have 100 followers, you can see your demographic information.
You have to properly fill out your profile! So that when you have people who don’t know about you reach your Instagram, they’ll know just by a quick glance at your profile. I know it can be difficult to summarize yourself and your blog in 150 characters or less, but it can be done! Short, sweet and to the point!
I suggest your profile picture be the same profile picture that you use in your blog – either that or your logo. That way, if your images are the same across all social media platforms, your audience will be able to easily identify you.
My profile looks like this:
It includes the same profile picture that I use throughout all of my other social media accounts for my blog and my description is straight to the point so that it lets visitors know right away what it’s about.
The most important thing to include in your Instagram profile is your WEBSITE! Making sure that it is spelt right!
If you haven’t done so already, brand your blog. Once you have done so, you can now use the same colors, and fonts to style your photographs.
Sure, you can post whatever pictures you want. But you want your account to be cohesive to your blog. You want your photographs to be cohesive. So that when people see your account, the colors flow… the colors are familiar.
What do I mean by that? If you look at my blog and my Instagram account (and all of my other social media accounts for the blog…) it’s cohesive – the colors are the same. Guaranteed you are going to see a lot of the following colors:
Give your post some hashtag love, people! Hashtags are so important because it is how people search for things that interest them.
Here’s is an example of one of my posts on Instagram:
That way if other mama bloggers are looking for other “mamabloggers” on Instagram, my post will come up! Maybe the image I chose will attract them. Maybe they’ll be curious.
Instagram is a social media account so SOCIALIZE!
- Share other people’s post as long as it has something to do with your blog and it’s something that you think your audience would enjoy. Be sure to credit the owner by tagging them in your post!
