Let’s get to know YOU:
Tell us a little bit about yourself (mini bio):
I’m a 25 year old new blogger from the Netherlands. I used to write a lot, but then I went to University to study Psychology and didn’t have time anymore. But then I got chronically ill with ME (which means I’m always very very tired) and now I have all the time in the world to spend writing (if I’m not sleeping). I absolutely love blogging and I hope to inspire and help people. That’s all I ever wanted, really.
What do you do outside of blogging (think school or work):
No school or work, blogging is my main thing to spend my limited energy on. Also, I try to be a good housewife the best my illness allows, a patient girlfriend, and a good human for my cat and dog. I also love to spend time with my family and walking through nature. I’m a big beach fan! I love wine and books too.
What do you like to do on your down time?
I like reading and walking with my dog. I also love to cook and watch Netflix series with my boyfriend. And did I mention the beach?
Blog niche: Tough one. Mostly chronically ill readers (spoonies), but I do try to be interesting for everyone. I hope a lot of people can enjoy my blog. I’m writing about everyday things from my perspective as chronically ill 25yo.
What’s the purpose of your blog?
I’d like to inspire people to get the best out of life, even if life isn’t always easy and even if it’s just plain unfair. There are so many beautiful things around us. That doesn’t mean “do big things”, I like to focus on the small things.
Who’s your target? Um. Target? Sorry, don’t really know what this means. Can we delete this one?
What’s the best way for your audience to contact you?
Through my website, comments and email. But I’m all over social media too.
How would you describe your blogging style?
When did you start blogging?
I started blogging in december 2016, but I really started to take it seriously this month (February 2017).
What inspired you to start blogging?
I’ve always loved writing, but didn’t have the inspiration to start a novel. This seemed like a great place to reach out to people and have people actually read what I write.
What’s the biggest change in your life since you started blogging?
It gave my life meaning. I set deadlines and work social media. I edit my posts. I make beautiful images. It’s an outlet for my creativity. I actually do something that is important to me, despite my illness. And that means the world to me.
Blogging goals: Well, eventually I like to make a paying job out of it.
- Short term: Reach a lot of people through social media.
- Long term: Earn some money.
If you could start blogging all over again, what would you do differently?
I’d make way better images and started pinning them more.
How do you motivate yourself to continue blogging?
I want my work to be read by many people, so I have to be consistent in posting and social media.
What attributes has helped you become successful blogger?
I’m not that successful yet, but I’ve been honest in my posts and people seem to appreciate that. Also, I always give more than I take when it comes to social media (Facebook Blogger Groups).
How have you tried to increase your blog traffic? Which way has been the most successful?
I’m in facebookgroups, on twitter, pinterest and google+. Pinterest is the most successful at this moment.
What’s your favourite social media platform and why?
I love Pinterest and Twitter. But the Facebookgroups help me most.
Most of your traffic comes from which social media platform?
What’s your favourite blogging group on Facebook?
I have a few. I like Blogging with a Smile and Girl Blogging Sharebears a lot.
Do you have a freebie for your readers? If so, what is it? Do we need to subscribe to receive it?
I’m planning a giveaway soon for people who subscribe when I have 50 subscribers! There will be a giveaway every 50 subscribers.
What’s your greatest win so far with blogging?
I’ve been shared by a Twitter account for Spoonies who have 11.7K followers. But what I love mostly is that a few people said to me that my blog had inspired them. Made my day.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve so far with blogging?
You’ve got to promote a lot. A. LOT.
Has blogging surprised you in any way? If so, how?
I didn’t think promoting would be such a big deal. I love to do it though.
How often do you publish a post?
2-3 times a week. Including guestposts.
Have you had writer’s block? If so, how did you overcome it?
I’ve been in a writers block for years, so I’m still working on getting over my fear of not getting anything (good) done.
