Meet Michelle

Let’s get to know YOU:
Tell us a little bit about yourself (mini bio): Mom of 2, wife, sports enthusiast, football lover & yoga follower. I enjoy healthy eating & the continually process of trying to my best self. I am dedicated to helping special needs kids and families understand diagnosis’s, services, and their rights

What do you do outside of blogging (think school or work): I run a construction company & attempt to maintain my sanity

What do you like to do on your down time? I LOVE going to live music, yoga, the beach, watching the Florida Gators and hanging out with my husband & kids
Blog niche: special needs parenting, support & resources

What’s the purpose of your blog? To make the road for special needs parents easier and provide them with a central location for support & information

Who’s your target? Anyone who is a parent, caregiver, teacher, or who knows someone with special needs. I focus on apraxia & sensory processing but I cover many different topics

What’s the best way for your audience to contact you? Any of my social media or email

How would you describe your blogging style? Heartfelt & from my own experiences

When did you start blogging? May 2015 but not seriously until May 2016

What inspired you to start blogging? I started a walk for children with apraxia and was asked to tell our story

What’s the biggest change in your life since you started blogging? Realizing the number of families who are truly in need of guidance and the amount of parents that are totally burnt out

Blogging goals:

  • Short term: help parents feel better about their journey
  • Long term: to become a household resource

If you could start blogging all over again, what would you do differently?

How do you motivate yourself to continue blogging? I only blog when it’s something I feel strongly about. I do not blog to “fill content”

What attributes has helped you become successful blogger? Brutal honesty & a bit of sarcasm

How have you tried to increase your blog traffic? Which way has been the most successful? Yes, it’s still a work in progress. I can’t really say what has been successful yet

What’s your favourite social media platform and why? Instagram has been unique in the sense of how many people “find me”, Twitter has been very cool to watch much larger blogs, etc retweet my blogs

What’s your greatest win so far with blogging? Interviewing an actress who has apraxia & sensory processing was truly amazing and inspiring.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve so far with blogging? I should have had my google analytics set up from the beginning

Has blogging surprised you in any way? If so, how? I never began on this journey to become a blogger

How often do you publish a post? Only when I feel something needs to be clarified for families or I’m inclined to share something that’s inspiring

Have you had writer’s block? If so, how did you overcome it? Yes. I usually find walking away making bullet points of what I want to cover and then coming back to it is best

Do you accept guest posts? If yes, tell us about it! Yes! I would love to have guest bloggers

Have you made money from blogging? If so, how? Nope 🙁 not yet

How long had you been blogging before you made any money? N/A

What type of blogs are you interested in reading and why? I like cooking blogs a lot
Give advice to someone who wants to start blogging: focus, know the direction you want your blog to go. Think short term & longterm

Tell us one thing your readers don’t know about you: I love truly living life & surrounding myself who are filled with positive energy. I also enjoy being challenged on all levels. I do not ever have to be right and feel very connected to people that you can have deep conversations with

Anything else you’d like to share with us? Go for it!!! I hope that my blog helps another Momma who’s tired, burnt out & at her wits end. Special needs parenting is exhausting! It can bring out the best & worst in you. I hope I’m able to help a family through that process

Leave a message for your readers: Thank you for taking the time to read about our journey and I hope it has helped you to feel a little less alone
