Your name: Stephanie Lynch
Name of your blog: You Are My Son Shine

Meet Stephanie
Let’s get to know YOU:
Tell us a little bit about yourself (mini bio): I’m a stay-at-home mom, I am a children/family photographer, I am a Legacy Maker with Legacy Republic, I am a mom, I am a wife. I wear many different hats and do many different things, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!
What do you do outside of blogging (think school or work): see above
What do you like to do on your down time? I enjoy cooking/baking, scrapbooking, and playing with my kids.
Blog niche: Cooking/Recipes, Gardening, Lifestyle
What’s the purpose of your blog? It started as a way for me to share my recipes with friends and family, and I just enjoyed writing so much I kept going with it!
Who’s your target? Those looking for healthy recipe options for their families, and other moms.
What’s the best way for your audience to contact you? Through my social media outlets or email stephanie@youaremysonshine.com
How would you describe your blogging style? I mostly just write the way I speak. I try to break the posts up into sections to make it easier to read.
When did you start blogging? About a year ago.
What inspired you to start blogging? As a stay-at-home mom, I needed some kind of outlet, and blogging is perfect for that.
What’s the biggest change in your life since you started blogging?
Blogging goals:
  • Short term: Continue to blog consistently and increase my traffic
  • Long term: Monetize the blog to help supplement income as a stay at home mom
If you could start blogging all over again, what would you do differently? Make sure I have the theme, colors, and look down before I started writing too many posts. I’ve changed the way my posts, especially my recipes, are done multiple times so had to redo them, causing more work that I needed.
How do you motivate yourself to continue blogging? Right now, I really enjoy my blogging, so I don’t need a lot of motivation.
What attributes has helped you become successful blogger? I like to help people, and if my blog helps one person, then I feel like I’ve done my job.
How have you tried to increase your blog traffic? Which way has been the most successful? I started posting on more social media sites, blogging more consistently, started using a calendar to keep track of my ideas and blog posts, and joined blogging groups. The two that have been most successful for me have been the consistent blogging and joining the groups to keep learning.
What’s your favourite social media platform and why? Personally, I love Facebook. As a blogger, I love pinterest.
Most of your traffic comes from which social media platform? Pinterest
What’s your favourite blogging group on Facebook? I’m in a group called Blogging 101 and I have had the chance to talk with other bloggers in my niche and out of it.
Do you have a freebie for your readers? If so, what is it? Do we need to subscribe to receive it? I have a few freebies on my website, including a recipe book and templates for some of the documents I wrote blogs about such as my will and a neighbor gift I created. As I post more, there will be more templates and documents added. You do have to subscribe to my email list to get the password to my freebie page.
What’s your greatest win so far with blogging? My number of viewers has been slowly increasing, which means my blog has been getting traffic. Knowing that people are reading my blog means it’s getting out there.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve so far with blogging? Be prepared. Have backups. Try to get out ahead because there will be times that the unexpected comes up and you don’t get to blog. It helps to have posts scheduled out a few weeks, just in case.
Has blogging surprised you in any way? If so, how? I didn’t realize how much I would enjoy writing because I never liked writing when I was in school!
How often do you publish a post? I am currently doing a 30 day blogging challenge to write a new post every day for 30 days. Outside of that I typically post one recipe each week, two regular posts per week, and an update on our garden every other week.
Have you had writer’s block? If so, how did you overcome it? I walk away. I walk away from the blog for a couple hours, and come back later with a fresh mind.
Do you have a blogging schedule? Daily theme? Please share! I keep a day planner with all my post subjects written on the days I want them to post. The planner I use also has a journal area in the back that I use to write any notes.
Have you guest posted for someone?
