Meet Antoinette #TheBloggerBehindTheBlog

Let’s get to know YOU:

Tell us a little bit about yourself (mini bio):

Hey everyone, my name is Antoinette Johnson a Toronto based plus size fashion and style blogger. Being a hugely influence by body positive I started writing this blog Antoinette Johnson in 2014 and the rest of history. Since I have growing passion for fashion, I decided to pursue education in fashion and attend Humber College in the Bachelor of Commerce in Fashion Management.

What do you do outside of blogging (think school or work):

Beside blogging, I attend Humber college in Toronto. I major in Fashion Management and I love the program. And I also work as a online personal shopper.

What do you like to do on your down time?

Beside blogging and in school, I love to read books. It calms me down and helps me unwind after a long day. I also love spending time with my best friends, they all help me keep grounded and sane from any problems I have in life and keep me motivated.

Blog niche:

Plus size fashion

What’s the purpose of your blog?

The purpose of my blog is to inspire young females like myself to express themselves in any body shape they are. I have seen the beauty standard that this world has and it unrealistic and it make females feel un pretty. Even though I target to one specific market, I wanted to showcase that beauty comes from all size and anyone can wear anything despite what size they are.

Who’s your target?

What’s the best way for your audience to contact you?

Best way to contact to is my email because I honestly check my email all the time. It’s my life so most likely I will answer you back from there.

How would you describe your blogging style?

I’m very open to my reader and express myself to what I’m feeling at that time. I’m very interacted with my readers and love to inspiring them to move forward and be the best person they can be.

When did you start blogging?

I started blogging as a creative outlet for myself, I loved fashion and being plus size I seen other fashion blogger like Nadia Aboulhosn and seeing them expressing them self I wanted to use it as  my outlet to express myself.

What inspired you to start blogging?

Reader other bloggers inspired to start bloggers cause I’m not good at expressing my self to the world and being a blogger you have to be okay of being in situation that you don’t want to be in. But reading other blogs and how inspiring they are, it was time for me to take a risk.

What’s the biggest change in your life since you started blogging?

I guess the people I surround myself with, as you start having ambitious goals and work towards that there was people in my life who constantly kept doubting me and telling that I wasn’t going to do well in this. I even had people who were close to me doubting me. Because of this, I had to disassociate myself from those people who doubt me. But I did found a group of friends that kept me ground and push me to keep doing this.

Blogging goals:

  • Short term: I just want to inspire more of reader by doing different subject therefore they’ll continue to visit my blog.
  • Long term: I guess having Blogging as my full-time job because I love doing to.

If you could start blogging all over again, what would you do differently?

I think I would of research more on how to create a blog and keep having consistent post weekly. When I started blogging I wasn’t as consistent in posting because I was in high school and had a lot of responsibility so with that I didn’t get a lot of traffic to my blog.

How do you motivate yourself to continue blogging?

When I feel demotivated to blog I look at my New Years goals list and read the goals I commit to keep this year I also read inspiration quote for girl boss which is a huge factor as to why I keep writing post and helps me get up everyday.

What attributes has helped you become successful blogger?

Me being extremely ambitious has help me become the successful blogger I am today. I also have a entrepreneurial attitude which always help in creating new ideas to differentiate from other blogs.

How have you tried to increase your blog traffic? Which way has been the most successful?

I have tired to increase blog traffic by doing collaboration with other bloggers or youtubers. I actually did one with my best friend recently for my valentine’s day series, I put the outfit together and she did my makeup. With doing this collaboration, this hugely increase my blog traffic

What’s your favourite social media platform and why??

I love Instagram I’ve always had since the platform was first created. I guess for me it’s more personal social media that I can connect with other on and take BOMB picture.

It must be the SHE E.O squad It’s not necessary a blogging Facebook group but businesses and blogger come together and inspire each other to work hard and go the extra mile.

I had weeks where I didn’t get as much pageview or I had a bad week at school or work and I were would wonder why this was happening to me. I always had to remind myself of the goals I eventually want to accomplished and keep going.
