Let’s get to know YOU:
Tell us a little bit about yourself (mini bio):
Hi! I’m Ariana. I’m a twenty-something in college. I got into blogging after reading a bunch of blogs and I thought “this seems like fun!” After doing some research, I took the dive about a year and a half ago. I love taking pictures and documenting my life, so I (and my future children, grandchildren, etc.) can look back on it.
What do you do outside of blogging (think school or work):
I am currently a junior in college and I am majoring in Elementary Education. I also nanny and work in my church’s childcare. I love learning and school. I think that if it was possible, I would take classes forever!
What do you like to do on your down time?
When I’m not at school or doing homework, you can find me reading, watching Netflix or Youtube, or scrapbooking. As I mentioned before, I love photography and pictures. It’s a way for me to creatively document my life and memories.
Blog niche: College + Lifestyle
What’s the purpose of your blog?
Originally, the purpose of my blog was sort of like a journal for me. I wanted a place to share my life and adventures that had enough space for my ramblings and photos. Now, my blog is still that, but I want to be able to share things I learn in life, be a possible inspiration to some, share advice, and just be a positive influence.
Who’s your target?
My target audience is millenials and college-age people.
What’s the best way for your audience to contact you?
Currently the best way to contact me is through Twitter! I will soon have a Facebook page and blog email but they’re still in the works!
How would you describe your blogging style?
I try to keep my blogging style light-hearted and happy and always positive. I try to give advice and somehow help my readers.
When did you start blogging?
I started Absolutely Ariana in July 2015. So it’s almost been two years!
What inspired you to start blogging?
I realized that I read a lot of blogs and had followed Zoella (or Zoe Sugg)’s blog for years. I thought “hey I want to do that!” I saw that people were sharing advice, beauty tips, college help, etc. I wanted to be a part of it!
What’s the biggest change in your life since you started blogging?
The biggest change in my life I think would be that I feel like I finally have an outlet.. I’ve always loved taking pictures and sharing ideas but I didn’t really have a platform to put them that allowed more than 140 characters, if you know what I mean. I’ve always had a tendency to write and be semi-decent but nowhere to put/share it. Now there’s a community in it and it feels amazing!
- Short term: Develop a better looking site and sort of revamp
- Long term: Traffic, Traffic, Traffic!
If you could start blogging all over again, what would you do differently?
I would do more research behind what all is involved in running a blog (like social media, pre-planning, networking, etc.).
How do you motivate yourself to continue blogging?
I do have days when I just don’t feel like it or don’t even want to look at a laptop. But I know that’s okay. I usually give myself a break for a day or two, then go to Pinterest or just read the new posts from ones
What attributes has helped you become successful blogger?
I think I have an ambitious quality in me that helps me keep going, even when I feel unmotivated or defeated. I also love learning, especially when it comes to new things, so I really enjoy learning how to run and keep a blog! I’m also really friendly and love meeting and learning about new people, so its the perfect community!
How have you tried to increase your blog traffic? Which way has been the most successful?
I have created an Instagram and Twitter, which was good. But the most successful way I have found is participating in Twitter chats and being genuine in conversation!
What’s your favourite social media platform and why?
I love love love Pinterest and Twitter! Twitter is fun to interact with other bloggers and Pinterest is fun to find and share other blog posts.
Most of your traffic comes from which social media platform?
I would say I get most traffic from Twitter right now.
What’s your favourite blogging group on Facebook?
I love Helene’s of Helene In Between Boost Your Blog group! Everyone is so nice and lovely there. It’s a place to share and grow all sorts of different blogs.
What’s your greatest win so far with blogging?
I would say my biggest win is getting some comments on my posts! They’re still not on every post, but I’m proud to at least have gotten some.
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve so far with blogging?
My biggest lesson would have to be that you really have to put yourself out there and step out of the comfort zone. I knew that networking was going to be a huge component of this but for a naturally timid person, I had to overcome that part of me to do that.
Has blogging surprised you in any way? If so, how?
Blogging has definitely surprised me. The biggest surprise would probably be how much work goes into it. Obviously I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but golly! I had no idea about all the different parts that have to come together for blogging success! Don’t take me wrong either, I’m still learning and working on it. I’m excited to keep learning and building.
How often do you publish a post?
I publish at least once a week.
Have you had writer’s block? If so, how did you overcome it?
Oh yes, most definitely. Who hasn’t really? I have found that taking a day or two away from worrying about the blog really helps. Then I go look at the blogs that I follow to get re-inspired!
Do you have a blogging schedule? Daily theme? Please share!
I do not have a daily or weekly theme, but that actually sounds like a fun idea! I am trying to figure out the best posting schedule for my blog but right now, I have been publishing on Monday.
Have you made money from blogging? If so, how?
So far, I have not. I am really looking to learn more about how to do this!
Who’s your favourite blogger before you started blogging and why? (Name and blog URL)
Before I started blogging, I really only followed Zoe Sugg (https://www.zoella.co.uk/). She’s my favorite YouTuber and also one of my favorite bloggers! She’s so lighthearted, girly, funny, and loves all the same things as me. I felt like I could relate to her (and still do)! Also right before I started blogging I found Katie from http://www.katiedidwhat.com/ who is the cutest mom blogger ever! Her guide to starting a Lifestyle blog is how I started mine!
Who’s your favourite blogger now and why? (Name and blog URL)
Oh goodness there’s too many to pick from! I still love and follow both Zoe and Katie. I really enjoy Amber from Barefoot Blonde! I honestly have so many favorites but this is just one! She’s a lifestyle mom blogger and I LOVE her blog! She has the cutest family and their photography is what dreams are made of! You should really check her out, she’s bound to make you smile!
What type of blogs are you interested in reading and why?
Honestly, I have a widespread interest in blogs. I like book blogs because I like reading, fashion blogs, mom blogs (when I’m nowhere even close to being a mom), travel blogs, and college blogs of course! I guess I really like variety and I love lifestyle blogs, because they incorporate so many different topics!

Give advice to someone who wants to start blogging:
My advice to anyone who wants to start blogging is this: It’s going to be a bit frustrating and hard getting people to keep coming back to your site. Don’t give up and stick with it! But even so, make sure you’re writing for you! Don’t write about things that you don’t care about or are not interested in.
Tell us one thing your readers don’t know about you:
I actually really enjoy classical music. I have a pre-programmed station for it in my car that I listen to when all the other radio stations are giving me a headache! (pro tip: listen to classical music when you study and it helps TONS)
