Meet Ivy of Perfectly Ambitious!

Your name: Ivy Cirillo
Name of your blog: Perfectly Ambitious
Blog social media accounts:
Meet Ivy #TheBloggerBehindTheBlog
Let’s get to know YOU:
Tell us a little bit about yourself (mini bio): I’m a 20 something military wife and chronic illness warrior! I live in Alabama with my husband and our three fur babies and I love all things creative 🙂
What do you do outside of blogging (think school or work): Due to my health, I work exclusively from home. At the moment, I do a little bit of everything: graphic design, social media management, virtual assistant work, and more. In addition to that, I’m also an aspiring author with five books in the works!
What do you like to do on your down time? What down time?! Haha. On the off chance that I do have down time, you can usually find me reading a book or binge watching something on Hulu or Netflix!
Blog niche: Lifestyle blog
What’s the purpose of your blog? Living, creating, and encouraging others to be perfectly ambitious.
Who’s your target? My target audience is women of all ages. From my experience, it’s women that are told they’re “too ambitious” so they are the readers that I try to reach out to the most!
What’s the best way for your audience to contact you? If you’re looking for a quick convo, social media is your best bet! However, I rarely check my DM’s due to all of the autoresponders. Of course, if you’re looking to connect or collaborate, email is the easiest for me! (
How would you describe your blogging style? Honestly, I’m not sure that I truly have a blogging style just yet. I guess if I had to though, I’d say organized, over planned, and optimistic.
When did you start blogging? Which time?! I started my first blog a few years ago and that didn’t go so well. Then I started Perfectly Ambitious in January 2016. And crazy enough, I started another blog towards the end of 2016 too!
What inspired you to start blogging? After my first blog attempt, I never thought I’d blog again; but after my health started declining I didn’t have anywhere else to turn. When I started Perfectly Ambitious, it was because I had something that I needed to say. Not only that, but it also brought me closer to a community of people going through exactly the same thing that I was going through. Starting this blog is probably one of the best decisions that I’ve ever made 🙂
What’s the biggest change in your life since you started blogging? That’s a hard one. I think the biggest change in my life due to blogging would be my overall sense of freedom. I can work anywhere, anytime, and that works perfectly with my chronic illnesses!
Blogging goals:
  • Short term: I want to be able to find financial security through blogging.
  • Long term: I want to help women realize their potential and that it’s ok to be ambitious. Not only that, but I want to use my blog as a platform to end the stigma against mental and physical illnesses.
If you could start blogging all over again, what would you do differently? Nothing! Been there, done that!
How do you motivate yourself to continue blogging? Honestly, I don’t need to motivate myself. I’ve finally found something that makes me happy and gives my current life purpose. It’s through blogging that I’ve found hope and happiness.
What attributes have helped you become a successful blogger? Determination, ambition, and stubbornness 🙂
How have you tried to increase your blog traffic? Which way has been the most successful? I’ve read every blog post under the sun and participated in a ton of challenges and I think I’ve finally figured out the perfect formula for increasing my blog’s monthly traffic. I can’t share all my secrets, but I’ll share one: Pinterest!
What’s your favourite social media platform and why? As mentioned above, Pinterest is my favorite platform for boosting traffic. However, it’s between Instagram and Twitter for the social media platform I actually enjoy using the most!
Most of your traffic comes from which social media platform? Pinterest. Hands down!
What’s your favourite blogging group on Facebook? That’s a hard one! It’d either have to be Blogging Boost or Boost Your Blog.
Do you have a freebie for your readers? If so, what is it? Do we need to subscribe to receive it? I’ve got quite a few freebies! Each month I give my readers a free printable with a bible verse on it. In addition to that one, I offer freebies within occasional blog posts too! All freebies are available on my blog and will be sent to your inbox upon subscribing for my newsletter!
What’s your greatest win so far with blogging? Honestly, being able to connect with so many like-minded women. I think I’ve truly found my calling 🙂
What’s the biggest lesson you’ve so far with blogging? Blogging is A LOT of work. I don’t know who said it’s easy, but it’s not. What people don’t realize is that blogging isn’t just writing. If you’re a blogger, you’re also a web designer, a graphic designer, an social media manager, a business owner, a writer, and an editor. Bloggers wear many hats!
How often do you publish a post? Roughly 4-6 posts per week.
Have you had writer’s block? If so, how did you overcome it? Surprisingly enough, writer’s block isn’t really an issue for me. Each month, I schedule all of my social media and plan all of my blog posts for the following month. That takes all of the guess work out of it for me. My real problem is trying to write the actual posts before they’re supposed to go live 🙂
Do you have a blogging schedule? Daily theme? Please share! Sort of! Mondays: Living | Tuesdays: Creating | (Every other) Wednesdays: Book Reviews | Fridays: Encouragement | Saturdays: Spoonie/Chronic Illness | (First two) Sundays: Advertisers
Have you guest posted for someone? Yup!
  • For whom? Various blogs, some of which include: Belle Britta Blog, Living Grace Blog, Inside the Fox Den, and many more!
  • Blog URL: Too many too share! That’s why I created a Press Page 🙂 (Link:
Do you accept guest posts? If yes, tell us about it! Of course! In addition to my free monthly interview series, I also offer guest posts to other bloggers too! All that I require is that the blogger sends me a couple of ideas for their post and we’ll decide together which will work best with my schedule and my audience! Not only that, but they have the option to submit an individual post or a series of posts for publishing too!
Have you made money from blogging? If so, how? Yup! I break down all of my income and expenses in all of my monthly reports (link:, but my main source of income comes from freelancing and affiliate sales.
How long had you been blogging before you made any money? Only a couple of months. Had I known I could have started making money right away, I definitely would have started earlier!
Who’s your favourite blogger before you started blogging and why? (Name and blog URL) Oddly enough, I don’t think I had a favorite blog. However, I was constantly reading Chronically Courtney right around the time that I was beginning to consider starting another blog! (Link:
Who’s your favourite blogger now and why? (Name and blog URL) I love so many bloggers for so many reasons, but I have to say that Mandy from A Girl, Obsessed is my favorite! She isn’t your typical niche blogger and I love that about her. She’s actually the reason that I decided to move forward with the focus of my blog instead of limiting myself to one topic. Not only that, but she’s just awesome all around! She creates great content and she cares about her readers. Plus, she frequently updates her blog header and I’m always excited to see what will pop up next 🙂 (Link:
What type of blogs are you interested in reading and why? Being perfectly ambitious, I have a TON of interests, so my blog interests vary too! Right now, I like to read blogs about blogging, living with chronic illness, reading, and writing!
Give advice to someone who wants to start blogging: Go for it! Don’t let anyone stop you. If you’ve got something to say or something you’re passionate about, then get to writing! If it’s important to you, then it’s important. It’s as simple as that! And if you don’t know where to start, start here! (Link:
Tell us one thing your readers don’t know about you: I have over 200 books in my own personal library. They’re my prized possessions 🙂
Leave a message for your readers: You guys are amazing and I love each and every one of you! You allow me to do what I love every single day and I don’t know what I would do without your support!
