Meet Nandita #TheBloggerBehindTheBlog

Let’s get to know YOU:

Tell us a little bit about yourself (mini bio): I am a freelance writer and blogger with an educational background in English Literature and Corporate Communications. Writing and painting are two of my passions and I feel they offer a wider arena for self-expression than oration for me. By the way, I am also mom to a deceptively angelic 9-year-old son.

What do you do outside of blogging (think school or work): Though I would like to turn blogging into my full-time engagement eventually, right now I am also doing freelance writing work.

What do you like to do on your down time?: I like to explore my creative side, create, practice and learn as much as I can. Mostly, it’s visual arts.

Blog niche: Health, life and art

What’s the purpose of your blog? : Through my blog, I am aiming to help people lead a healthier life the natural way, cutting medical bills and generally upping the wellness factor. I also share some of my life lessons learnt the hard way and encourage people to make the best of each day of their life – carpe diem. There are some interesting lifestyle and art snippets too for those who are interested.

Who’s your target?: Anyone who is interested in enhancing their sense of wellbeing, both physically and mentally. Also, the artistic ones at heart.

What’s the best way for your audience to contact you? They can shoot me a mail at nandyzsoulshine@gmail.comor connect with me on any of the social media handles shared at the beginning of this interview.

How would you describe your blogging style? It’s more like a personal conversation but also with bulleted points for easy reading and reference.

When did you start blogging? Though the planning was on for a while, I finally launched it on 15th October 2016.

What inspired you to start blogging? The idea of connecting with other like-minded people around the world without geographical boundaries was one of the major attractions of blogging for me. The opportunity to be able to help others along the way (no matter how minutely), boosted the desire to write and dare to open up to the world.

What’s the biggest change in your life since you started blogging? I have become more organized in my work and have started managing my time better.

Blogging goals:

  • Short term: Consistent publishing of quality content three times a week. Connecting with other bloggers.
  • Long term: Make the blog synonymous with quality and helpful content as well as establish a mutually helpful relationship with my readers. A harmoniously monetized and a self-sustaining blog wouldn’t hurt too.

If you could start blogging all over again, what would you do differently? Though I am still in the process of earning my lessons-learnt, I would prefer to have been better prepared for the ‘promote your blog’ part.

What attributes has helped you become successful blogger? I don’t know whether I would call myself a successful blogger yet, but I think the innate desire to help people in any small way is aiding my journey on the right track.

How have you tried to increase your blog traffic? Which way has been the most successful?: Yes, I have been working on that. Sincere interaction on FB blogging groups and Pinterest have been the biggest contributors to my blog traffic.

Most of your traffic comes from which social media platform?: Pinterest

What’s your favourite blogging group on Facebook?: Blog Engagement/Promotion Mastermind Group 2.0

What’s your greatest win so far with blogging?: The encouragement and appreciation from my readers. It really boosts the confidence in your writing. Also, knowing that you touched someone’s life just through sharing your own life lessons is a humbling experience.

What’s the biggest lesson you’ve so far with blogging?: Blogging isn’t as simple as people generally think it to be. It takes hard work, dedication and time to simply sustain a meaningful blog.

How often do you publish a post?: Usually 3 times a week.

Have you had writer’s block? If so, how did you overcome it?: Yes. I thought it would strike a bit later, but guess it couldn’t wait J. I just put my head down and kept writing whatever came into my head until  finally it started making some sort of sense. Agree, it wasn’t one of my best efforts, but it got my writing back into groove.

Do you have a blogging schedule? Daily theme? Please share!: I usually post 3 times a week, one each for the categories health, life and art. Mostly I try to carry the same theme through the week for all these posts.

Have you guest posted for someone?: I am in communication with a couple of wonderful bloggers regarding this and hopefully would also feature a few on my blog in the immediate future.

For whom?

Have you made money from blogging? If so, how?: I am still quite new in this field and am concentrating more on increasing readership and publicity.

How long had you been blogging before you made any money?: I intend to start monetizing the blog pretty soon and have a rough plan in place. As soon as it is finalized, will put it into action. But one thing is for sure, whatever be the method, it will be in keeping with the theme and sentiments of the blog.

Who’s your favourite blogger before you started blogging and why? (Name and blog URL): There were quite a few ranging from motivational, interior decoration to completely visual art related.

Who’s your favourite blogger now and why? (Name and blog URL): Right now, I am going back again and again to Sandrine Pelissier’s It is an absolute treasure trove for the creative at heart.

What type of blogs are you interested in reading and why?: I like to explore travel, inspirational, blogging related and art blogs. Some of these help me learn and get charged-up to work, while others help relax and unwind.

Give advice to someone who wants to start blogging: Be sure about your reasons to start a blog, do a thorough research about the technicalities and costs involved for owning a blog and be ready to work through writer’s block. Most importantly, don’t forget to enjoy your journey.
